Mota-Vational Quotes

  • "Life isn't about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain!"
  • "The happiest people don't always have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have."
  • "Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

Preston's First Vacation

Last month we got to take Preston on his very first vacation! Now to Preston, every day is a vacation, but this week was going to be spent in the Bahamas!! We were so excited to see our little man play in the sand and feel the little waves crash against his ankles. It was exactly as we'd hoped! We invited Nana, Grammy and Grandpa to go with us, so Preston had lots of attention (as usual). Our trip started with a flight to the Bahamas. It was Preston's first and...he was absolutely perfect! We were so happy! We got to the Bahamas to find out that our luggage had gotten lost. Not just ours, but every one in our party! UGH! It was very frustrating, but we didn't let that stop the vacation. We decided we'd figure it out as we went and enjoy the time we had.

We stayed at the Atlantis resort, which was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend it! We had an absolute blast! it took us the first day just to make it around the resort and do some sight seeing! We visited the Dig (the large aquarium) which was incredible. Preston loved it as well. The next day we were still waiting on our luggage to arrive, but decided to make the best of it and head out to the Straw market and hit up Senor Frogs. We had so much fun! The Bahama Mama's were delicious! Preston even enjoyed some time on the dance floor with mama, Nana and Grammy. The next day we spent some time on the beach, which was great and totally relaxing! Steve and I got a couples massage and that night we got a little date night. We went out to Nobu for dinner (yum), did a little gambling and went to a fun night club at the resort for some dancing. We didn't get too crazy because the next morning, it was time for Stephen and I to try Scuba diving for the first time. We had a good time, but both decided the underwater life isn't really our cup of tea. We prefer to be on land. =) That night we did some shopping and had another great dinner with live Bahamian music which was fun! The next day we decided to split up for a bit. The girls all went to the spa for a mani and pedi and the guys played some chess. Good times were had by all! After that we decided Preston needed some kid time, so we headed to Atlantis Pals to make him a little pal to take home. We got a little dolphin named Baha Atlantis. He really enjoyed that process. Our last night there we headed to the Fish Fry. We had heard all week about how we had to go to the fish fry. We got there and it was definitely where the locals hung. People were incredibly friendly. What we didn't expect was the presentation of our food. The fish was fresh! So fresh in fact that the head, eyes and tail were still attached! Ahhhh! hahahaha it was worth a good laugh and actually after getting past the presentation, the food was absolutely delicious, best fish I've ever had! Our last day we managed to get in another beach and pool visit before heading to marina village for those last minute souvenirs. The flight home I think we were all exhausted, especially Preston! He was such a trooper, but did manage to splash sweet potatoes on everyone around us, squirt his Mott's for Tots all over daddy and wanted to visit with everyone on the plane. Needless to say, it was entertaining, but he finally fell asleep and we made it home!

We had a wonderful trip! We are so blessed to have such an amazing son and have the opportunity to share such incredible experiences with him.

Preston's 1st 4th of July

This is Preston giving me "Sweet eyes"

Our Little Firecracker

We spent Preston's 1st 4th of July at Lake Palestine at the Lucado family reunion. We had so much fun visiting with everyone and showing off our little firecracker. =) Preston was precious as usual and enjoyed playing with our cousins little girl who is only 1 week older than him. What was almost as enjoyable as watching these two, was watching all of the adults taking pics of these two together. It was pretty funny all around. We decided we'd better watch out since Preston was already turning on the charm and patting her leg. Lots of fun was had by all and although it was late and past his bedtime, he got to enjoy some fireworks with mom and dad to close out the celebration!

Preston is 10 Months Old!!

Loves walking around the coffee table
And the recliner

Riding in the BIG boy car seat

Playing with daddy's Father's Day balloons

SO BIG

My cutie

Such a sweet boy

Hard to believe another month has past! Preston continues to grow big and strong and continues to be the love of our life! He is so completely amazing. Everyday it seems he does something new and takes one step closer to being a little boy and not our baby boy. It's absolutely incredible how quickly time flies. In the last month our precious little angel:

-Is almost walking (he took his first two steps on his 10 month birthday)

-Is into absolutely everything. Funny how he wants everything he can't have and his toys are not anything he wants to play with these days. =)

-Is such an explorer

-He is independent. He's already giving mommy the shove so he can go play on his own without being held back

-He is extremely happy! His smiles brighten my everyday!

-He has started blowing kisses

-Celebrated his first 4th of July

-Can stand on his own for several seconds

-Gives the most amazing and loving kisses and hugs

-He is the life of the party everywhere he goes. He's so friendly and outgoing!

-He can put the rings on his ring stacker

-He mocks us laughing and coughing (its pretty cute)

-Is now doing things on command like clapping, high-five, blowing kisses, waving and doing the Indian

-He has moved to his big boy car seat (SO BIG)

-Is crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything!

-We now find him standing and sitting up in his crib on a regular basis

-Is all boy! He tackles his stuffed animals, knocks down towers we build with blocks and hits himself and thinks its funny!

-Still finds time to snuggle with mommy and daddy (my favorite)

He is such a joy and an incredible blessing! I can't even begin to express the love we have for this little guy, he fills our hearts everyday!

Happy 1st Father's Day Dada

This year we got to celebrate Stephen's first Father's Day! Preston and I worked hard to decorate and get everything just right for the special day. We started the morning with daddy's favorite breakfast, then met the family for a celebration for all of the daddy's. We spent the afternoon together, had some yummy cake and celebrated all of these great daddy's! We even got a chance to celebrate the newest soon-to-be daddy in the family...that's right Gene and Steph are expecting a little one!! Super fun news! Can't wait.

Since Stephen is the BEST daddy in the world Preston and I got some fun gifts to make daddy's day feel extra special. We got him an Aggie flag, a washer game for the pool, a bottle of Knob Creek, a photo album of pics of Preston and daddy from this year and a fun little book we made daddy together. I think he liked everything. =) We had a lot of fun and I think daddy's first Father's Day will be hard to beat!

Preston's first haircut

Our baby boy is becoming such a big boy so fast! He is growing right before our eyes. It is so much fun to watch him learn and grow every single day! We took Preston to his 9 month well visit and he is in the 75th percentile in height and weight. he's a big boy! He is at a really fun age right now. Some of Preston's new things include:

  • Moving up to stage 3 baby food

  • Crawling (its still somewhat of a scoot, but he's getting it down)

  • Pulling up on everything

  • Says: Mama, Dada, Baba, Baby, Book, Boo, Lala, Nana and bye-bye (some of these aren't completely clear and I'm not sure he knows what he's saying yet, but he gets a lot of words out of that little mouth)

  • Waves bye bye

  • Claps his hands

  • Does the Indian (pats his hand on his mouth while yelling)

  • Gives us sweet eyes (smiles and squints)

  • Is more interactive with his toys (can scoot on his little car by himself)

  • Has 8 teeth

  • Eats lots of snack foods by himself (including Cheerios, Yogurt bites, Cheese puffs and toddler cookies)

  • Gives the sweetest hugs/kisses

  • Copies anyone who coughs or clears their throat with a fake cough (pretty cute)

  • Laughs when we laugh or when someone on TV laughs

  • Lets out pretty loud yells that he thinks is hilarious

  • Plays ball with Izzy

  • Rolls like a log from Steve to me back and forth

  • Got his first big boy haircut!

  • Road on the boat for the first time

  • Sat in the master closet to avoid his first tornado with mom and dad

    • He is an absolute joy! We love every minute with our little man! We are truly blessed!!!
