Mota-Vational Quotes

  • "Life isn't about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain!"
  • "The happiest people don't always have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have."
  • "Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

Pumpkin Patch 2013

As part of our Fall/Halloween tradition, we always try to get to a pumpkin patch with Preston. We made it this year, amidst the crazy move! We always enjoy the day at the Celina Pumpkin Farm. Preston LOVED feeding the animals this year, he thought it was pretty funny when they licked his hands. We enjoyed a nice picnic with hot dogs and sunshine. The hay ride is always a hit and this year he ran through the hay maze like a big boy! We struggled to get pics of him with the actual pumpkins, I guess at 3, its hard to get a little boy to sit still! =) It was a fun day!

Texas State Fair

A few weeks ago we decided to take Preston to the Texas State Fair. We weren't sure how much he would enjoy it at 3, but we ended up spending the entire day there! He had a blast! We played games, won prizes, rode the gondola over the fair, ate delicious food and saw fun animals! It was a super fun family day!

Preschool 1

Preston had his school pictures taken a couple of weeks ago. It's so fun to watch this little man grow up! He is getting SO big! I can not believe how smart he is! We even got a Happy Gram from school from his teacher telling us he is such a good role model for the other students. I couldn't be more proud of my big boy! 3 years old and the light of our life!

Preston's 1st Scooter

A few weeks ago Stephen and I had a little date afternoon and sat on a patio for some much needed R and R after the big move. As we relaxed we saw a little guy around Preston's age riding around on his scooter. We decided that on our way home we would pick Preston up a scooter as a surprise. We got him a cool little scooter and helmet. He was super excited when we picked him up and was pretty amazing. He jumped right on and was an instant pro! He rode around the block and then got tired so daddy carried it home. =) Good times and fun memories!

Closing a Fun Chapter

A few years ago we built our home at 1713 Landon Lane in McKinney, TX. At the time, this was our dream house! It had it all, a large lot that backed up to a green belt, 2 story (which we loved at the time), a game room, 4 bedrooms, a study, dining room and family room. It was perfect! A couple of years later we decided to put in a pool, which made this house even more to love. We had a lot of great times in this house like a fun party celebrating Stephen's graduation from his MBA, the birth of our first born son (and all of the other amazing firsts Preston had in this house), block parties, Superbowl parties, Bunko games, Pool parties, family gatherings, and much, much more! The walls of this house contained many wonderful memories. A while ago we decided to look for a bigger place-more bedrooms, media room, possibly one story-ranch style (my how things change). We found a place we fell in love with and began the building process. We put our wonderful little house, full of memories on the market and sold it within 1 week (3 offers and full asking price), couldn't turn it down. It was a bitter sweet feeling. All of these wonderful memories bundled up in this house and now, it wasn't ours.
We shed a few tears as one by one things began moving out, we painted over sweet Preston's finger prints on the walls, walked around our lot that we loved and went room by room to reminisce and say our goodbyes. It was NOT easy! =( We managed to make it through the move (even being pregnant). Our new place isn't ready so we moved into an apartment with limited things, while putting the majority of our things in storage. We are on the 3rd story of this little apartment that Preston calls our "Cabin". It hasn't been the easiest process.
We are hopeful that our next little dream home will be ready soon and we can start building new memories there! It is fully framed, electrical done and insullation installed. Excited to see this house go up, get moved in and start a new chapter in our life!

First Season of Tee Ball

We signed Preston up for his first season of Tee Ball this year with the very best coach that the YMCA has to offer...daddy! It has been so much fun to watch Preston learn about the sport, play as a member of a team, enjoy a fun activity and watch all the other kids on the team grow. It has also been a blast watching Stephen be a coach! He is so great with the kids, very motivating, positive and FUN! He keeps every practice interesting and engaging for the kiddos and they all love him! Here are a few pics that we've captured throughout this season. Pretty cute if you ask me, both Preston and daddy! But I'm a little partial!

Big Brother Coming Soon!

We are very excited to announce that we are going to be having another baby!! We found out in June that we would be expecting baby #2 in February. It was perfect timing, right around Father's Day that we found out, so we got to tell all of the special Father's in our lives on Father's Day. We also got a special t-shirt made so Preston could make the announcement via social media. Everyone is super excited to see Preston become a big brother and to meet this new little addition to our family.
In August, we found out that this special new addition is going to be A GIRL!! =) We are more than thrilled. What an incredible blessing! Preston is excited to meet his baby sister and has been super cute about the whole thing! A couple of things to note... -We told Preston that we were having a baby and that it was in mommy's tummy. He thought that was hilarious and said, "In mommy's tummy...that's silly!" -I picked up Preston from school a few days after we had told him about the baby and he said, "Mommy where's the baby?!" I told him it would be a while before it got here because it had to grow in mommy's tummy for a while before it will be ready to come out. He said, "No mommy, I don't want it to get too big! I want to hold it!" haha -While pushing Preston in his swing one day, he was in deep thought. I asked him what he was thinking about and he said, "I'm thinking about what I can give my baby sister!" Super sweet! -One night we tucked Preston into bed and he said, "Mommy, I think I'm going to give my baby sister all my stuffed animals." I told him he didn't have to give up his toys for sister, but that was super sweet to want to share them. He was a bit relieved! haha -We went to look at baby furniture and Preston picked up a lovey and said, "I think we should get this for baby sister!" We did, and that is sisters first gift from her big brother! We are all very excited to meet this sweet little girl! We still haven't decided on a name yet. Hopefully we'll land on one soon! We are so incredibly thankful for such an amazing blessing in our lives. Can't wait to see our family grow!
