Mota-Vational Quotes

  • "Life isn't about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain!"
  • "The happiest people don't always have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have."
  • "Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

Visit to San Angelo

Stephen and I took a quick flight (much better than driving) to San Angelo this last weekend to visit Drew, Shelly and the kids. Dad and Sheri also made it down so it was a wonderful weekend to catch up with everyone. I think we managed to get in just about everything possible (as you can see by all the pics) in the two days we were there. We BBQ'd, watched football, decorated pumpkins, had the kids model their Halloween costumes (Riley's a Knight and Kaylin's a princess), had water balloon fights (see videos for a glimpse of the fun), went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, went riding around in the jeeps and went trap shooting (yes, I actually shot a gun!). We had a great time! The kiddos are going to look great this Halloween, and we are so glad that we got to share in the festivities a little early this year. Thanks for a fabulous weekend guys, yall are great hosts! =)Love yall!

Catching Up

Last Thursday we were able to meet up with some girlfriends at another going away party for one of my co-workers. I am officially the last of the 7 Dwarfs from last years Halloween party (sad). Anyway it was great catching up with Dawn and Amanda!

Another Busy Weekend

Well come to find out, I'm not the only person that thinks of Steve as the "best man"! Last weekend Stephen's long time friend Michael Diaz asked Stephen to stand by him as his best man in his wedding. It was a nice ceremony and we had a good time at the reception.

Sunday my mom and grandma came in to celebrate mom's birthday! =) We took her to dinner and then we all went to see The Color Purple which was fabulous! Good times all around.

OU/TX and Family BBQ Weekend

Well, it's taken a little while to get over the football beating of a weekend we just had. Between OU, A&M and the Cowboys, it just wasn't the best weekend for watching football in our home. =) We did have a great time though. We had a surprise visit from Kristina, which was so much fun! It's become somewhat of a tradition that we have friends from Oklahoma in town to watch the OU/TX game every year, so it was awesome that we didn't break that tradition this year! Regardless of the score, we managed to have a good time catching up!

Saturday Steve's parents had all of the family over for some delicious BBQ! We hung out on the back porch in the beautiful weather listening to music and just catching up. We also brought out Chinese Checkers for a little fun. It was a wonderful relaxing evening. Unfortunately I forgot the camera, so we don't have any pics to capture all of the fun we had that night.

Luckily, Steve and I had a long weekend, so we got an extra day to relax and bum around the house.

Busy Lately

Stephen and I have been super busy this last week. We've both been pretty consumed with work (which is good, job security right). Stephen has also been busy with his MBA program. Poor guy, I don't know how he does it! He spent the last few days working on a paper for class while preparing for an important presentation at work. He's somehow managed to be successful at both! Makes me proud! ;) I spent the last few days traveling for work. I flew from Dallas to North Carolina, then to Chicago and finally back to Dallas. Needless to say, we're both pretty tired and ready for a relaxing weekend. It's good to be back home and neither one of us can wait to get a good night sleep!

Fun Fall Weekend

You can't bring in the Fall without an Oktoberfest! We went to Oktoberfest in downtown McKinney this year with Steve's family. It was a good time, but since the lines for food were so long, we opted for Snookies burgers instead of the traditional German food. We did make time for our Fall photo opps with the hay. Good times!

Sunday Steve and I took our little brother (with Big Brothers Big Sisters) Jonathan to the FC Dallas game. He loves soccer, so he had a great time! There were fun obstacle courses and games set up before the games for the kids and of course he had to get his wig so his hair would like the best player from the team. haha, he was cute. What an amazing feeling to be able to share some good times with someone who needs a little light in their life. Steve and I couldn't be more proud to be that light. He is such a neat kid!

Productive

Last weekend Stephen and I decided to do a little Fall cleaning. We cleaned out closets and donated some stuff to Goodwill. We also did some other fun projects around the house. Stephen installed speakers on our patio which is so much fun! Dad Mota came over for some extra help and some father son bonding time. =) We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing on the patio listening to music and dancing in our backyard. We even had a mini ice cream bar for extra entertainment, courtesy of Stephanie(camera ran out of batteries so no pics of that) but it was so fun! =) We did manage to get in the Aggie game, Cowboys and of course the Emmys. It was a great productive weekend!

Big Couple

Stephen and I decided to do something philanthropic to give back to our community. We have both always loved working with children and have done mentoring programs in the past. That is what lead us to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Stephen and I wanted to do something together, so we have officially become a big couple to a 10 year old boy Jonathan. =)

We met Jonathan last night and took him out for ice cream. He is such a cute little boy that loves soccer, playing outside and all sports. We are very excited to get to know Jonathan and hopefully be positive role models in his life.

Rain and Relaxation

This last weekend was super relaxing! There aren't many thing that motivate you to be lazy than a cool rainy day on the weekend. Well, Stephen and I did just that. Saturday we spent the day bumming around the house and napping off and on, it was wonderful!

Sunday, Stephen woke me up with breakfast in bed. We always have eggs on Sunday, so this Sunday was no different w/ our egg biscuits. He did a great job! He is seriously the best husband in the world! The rain had brought in some beautiful weather Sunday. It was perfect outside, so Steve and I met Steph and Gene at the park so our dogs could have a little play date. This is Buddy (our Chocolate lab)and our nephews Smokey (Buddy's brother from same litter, black lab) and Jake (the little black mix). They love playing fetch in the water! It was a little windy, so our attempt at sitting in the shade didn't work so well. Thanks for catching the umbrella Gene. =) We had a great time and so did the dogs!

Feeling Blessed

My wonderful husband surprised me yesterday with a dozen roses and a candle light dinner. Why? Just because he knew I'd been under some stress lately! He is truly an amazing husband. I'm not real sure how i'd get through some of these day to day obstacles if it weren't for him. Today I'm feeling truly blessed to be able to share my life with such an amazing man. I love you babe!

Visit from Mom and Grandma

Stephen and I had a fun weekend visit from mom and grandma! They came in Saturday and we all went to eat at Babe's. I know, we've been there a lot lately, but after reading all the blog entries about it, mom and g-ma had to go. It was worth it! We enjoyed the singing and dancing, not to mention the delicious food! It was a great kick-off to our visit.

Speaking of kick-offs, we got to watch the Aggies beat the Lobos 28-22! Gig em Aggies! Whoop! After the game we decided to hit up Marble Slab for some delicious ice cream! YUMMO!

Sunday, we went to see Mamma Mia. It was a great show! We laughed, cried and sang along, so much fun! We spent the afternoon getting ready for Kaylin's 2nd birthday party. We went and bought all the fun decorations. Theme: Dora of course! =) We just love our lil niece, can't believe she's almost 2! Can't wait to see her and Riley boy again.

It was a great visit. Always good to see mamma and grandma doing well!
