Mota-Vational Quotes

  • "Life isn't about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain!"
  • "The happiest people don't always have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have."
  • "Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

Happy Birthday Steph!

We recently got the family together to celebrate Stephanie's birthday! We went out to dinner at Uncle Julio's and then got to celebrate for the first time in their beautiful new home!! Steph got lots of new things for her huge kitchen, so we are excited to have many more celebrations/dinners over there. =) Happy birthday Stephanie, always fun to celebrate YOU! Looking forward to another fantastic year!!

Fun with Friends!

Last weekend we had some good friends from college come in town with their sweet family! We had so much fun catching up with these fun friends!! They have two kids also, one Preston's age and the other about a year older than Kelsey. The kids had a blast playing! They played outside a bunch, played in the playroom, then daddy and Kyle put up the tent in the media room. They watched movies, ate popcorn and roasted marshmallows for yummy s'mores. They really had a lot of fun together. It's fun to see our kids becoming sweet friends! We adults also had a lot of fun! Spent a lot of time talking, went out for a mini shopping trip and stayed up like we were wild and crazy in college and played Scrabble! haha, drinks were involved, so you know we had a good time! We were all exhausted by the end of it all, but it was worth it! Miss them so much and wish they lived closer!
We had toys everywhere!

Recovering from a fun weekend!

Drew for School Board!

Last weekend Mom, the kids and I went to San Angelo to campaign for my brother, Drew Workman for school board. We had a good visit with cousins and Shelly took a day off to campaign with us. We hung banners and signs all around and handed out cookies with "Vote for Drew Workman" to the schools and carpool lines. We had a lot of fun! We also had a chance to take the little kids to a fun park to play and go to ShoGuns for a fun dinner after the long campaign day was over. It's always fun to see family and get some time to catch up! The election was last Tuesday, and unfortunately Drew was not elected. I am very proud of him for running! He was running for the right reasons.  I am a very proud sister to know he wants to be involved with his kids and m his community. I think its awesome he ran and I know his kids thought it was pretty cool too! Go Drew!

Arrrrgh... 2014 Halloween Mateys!

This Halloween we had quite a few festivities. In addition to the Pumpkin patch and Halloween party, we also had a festival at Preston's school, another parade and Halloween party at his school and then finally Halloween! Its a wonder his costume held up through all of this! At his school festivals, he had a blast, playing games, trunk or treating and he got to be the leader of his Busy Bees class and carry the flag for their costume parade. He thought that was pretty fun! Nana was in town to help me with Kelsey while I helped out at Preston's festivals. The little parade was soooo cute! I started crying, can't believe Preston is so big!

He wanted to be a pirate this year and since Kelsey was too little to pick out her costume, we let Preston pick for her. He wanted her to be a pirate princess, so we all decided to be The Mota Pirate Crew! We had a lot of fun Halloween! Stephen took off that day so we had a fun filled day! We  started the day with special treats from mommy and daddy and pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Then we did a Halloween art project with Preston, then painted his smaller pumpkin like Jack from "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Then we carved pumpkins, roasted pumpkin seeds, and made special Halloween treats to take to the neighbors house for the trick or treat pre-party. We kicked off the night at our neighbors for hot dogs and chili and then headed out for trick or treating! Mimi and Papa came over and did some trick or treating with us and then helped us out a little with Kelsey, she didn't want to do quite as much trick or treating as brother ;). I am pretty sure that Halloween is Preston's favorite holiday so far! Fun was had by all! It was a wonderful Halloween, looking forward to many more!
