Mota-Vational Quotes

  • "Life isn't about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain!"
  • "The happiest people don't always have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have."
  • "Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

Saying Goodbye

Well this has been a bitter-sweet week for me. 3 of my best Publicis friends are moving on to other opportunities. I am very happy and very excited for them, but so sad that I won't have them here to have fun with anymore. Luckily good friends always keep in touch, so I have no doubt that we'll still meet up for more good times. Here are a couple of pics from their going away party.

Best of luck to you girls!

YUMMO!

These are my girls at the Pub (aka Publicis). Today we had a fun girls lunch. We decided to go out for sandwiches, ice cream sandwiches that is! We went to a place called Pokey-O's for the best ice cream sandwiches you'll ever have! You get to pick your fresh hot cookies, and then you get to pick your favorite ice cream flavor....DELICIOUS! Of course we needed salt after all the sugar, so we hit up Burger Street for some fries. We are definitely on a health kick this week. ;)

Friend's and Father's Day

We had a super long and busy work week last week, but we were able to mix in some fun over the weekend. I got a new bike, so Saturday Steve and I went riding, it was so much fun! I felt like a kid again. We spent a little time at the beach club catching some rays. Saturday night we went out to eat BBQ with Mike (a friend from high school and Steve's college roommate) and his fiance Jakki. It was good catching up!

Sunday was Father's Day and we went to Steve's parents house to celebrate with his dad. We had a great time eating mom Mota's meatloaf (yummy) and playing games. It's always nice to get some good quality family time in once in a while.

Father's Day was a little tough for me this year without my grandpa or Dee. I'm used to having lot's of daddy's to call and this year was a little different. It definitely reminded me to cherish the time that we have with the one's we love.

Long Time No See

It had been a while since I'd seen my dad, but he, Sheri, my brother, Shelly and the kiddos made a trip to Dallas last weekend for a fun filled couple of days. We spent a lot of time chatting and catching up. Riley spent a little time teaching Uncle Steve and Pop's how to play horseshoes in our backyard. That boy can throw! I think we have a little pitcher on our hands.

We took the family to our neighborhood pool, for a picnic and some fun in the sun. Kaylin spent some time building the best sand castles you can imagine while Riley tried some surfing. Steve's parents, Steph and Gene got to meet us at the pool too, so we had a little party. That night the kids hadn't had enough of the water sports, so they decided to pull out the slip and slide while Uncle Steve did some grilling. We spent some time in the backyard talking and just relaxing. We ended our fun Saturday with brownies...Riley liked cleaning the bowl!

Sunday everyone went home. it's never as much fun to say goodbye as it is to say hello!

Computer Hypnosis

Stephen has class for his MBA on Monday and Wednesday nights during the summer session. I typically come with him, so we can spend some time together in the car. Once we get here, he heads to class and I go to the computer lab to do some things for work, surf the web or update our blog until he gets out.

A full time job, then class at night makes for a long day sometimes. I often become hypnotized by the computer screen. So, here's where I am tonight. I know, it doesn't look or sound like much fun, but I would do it every night to have that extra time with my best friend!

Family & Friends

We just had a wonderful family filled weekend!

Friday night we kicked off our weekend with a super fun Texas Hold 'Em tournament at Steph and Gene's. I think there were 31 people there and I (yes, the girl who's never played in a poker tournament) came in 4th place! Not bad for a rookie! ;)Mom, Steve's parents and Gene's parents were all in town for the fun. Gene's dad took 2nd place and Gene took 3rd, so I vote that this family needs to head to Vegas!

Saturday morning mom and I enjoyed some girl time shopping and then we met up with all the girls (mom, Steph, Mrs. Mota, Gene's mom and I) and our wonderful husbands for a fun afternoon matinee of Sex and the City. All I can say is AMAZING! If you haven't seen it yet, go! LOVE IT! We ended our fun filled day at dinner w/ mom.

Sunday, we did a little more shopping and then momma had to go home =(. Stephen and I had a relaxing afternoon catching up on the sleep we missed out on Friday night and catching up on chores for another fun work week.
