Mota-Vational Quotes

  • "Life isn't about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain!"
  • "The happiest people don't always have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have."
  • "Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

Fun Visit to OK

Last weekend we got to make a trip to Oklahoma to visit some good friends of ours from college. Friday night we drove to Edmond to see Ashley, Kyle and Kate and their new beautiful home! After Preston slept on the road trip, he was wide awake and ready to go when we got there! Needless to say, we had a pretty late night Friday. It was lots of fun catching up with Ashley and Kyle, but we were convinced that Kate and Preston would be on different schedules after a night like that. Kate is 2 months older than Preston and we were super excited to see the two of them interact with one another! Luckily, Preston was a champ and woke up at his regular time Saturday and we got to introduce the two of them. They were precious and played so well together!! It was so much fun! They shared their toys and thought it was pretty cool to have someone their own size to play with! Little Kate is a doll and is already crawling everywhere. It's so fun to see the tricks she's up to so we know whats in store for us with Preston. She is absolutely adorable, I think Preston thought so too! ;) We went out to lunch Saturday and you would've thought we had a celebrity at our table! Those two attracted more attention, it was really cute! Saturday night our friends Kristina and Kyle came over with their precious little girl Awbrey and little Kendall in the oven. We had some delicious BBQ and hung out. It was so much fun catching up with everyone! This was the first time this group had all gathered with our kiddos. It was a pretty different scene than our college days, but still good times! I can't wait to watch all of these kids grow up together! It was a wonderful weekend! I wish we all lived closer so we could have these good times more often! Hopefully we'll get to again soon!

Gene's 40!

Last week we celebrated Gene's 40th birthday! We went to a great dinner at Jaspers and then went back to their place for cake, gifts and family fun! Steph always has fun games to keep us all entertained! It was nice to have Gene's mom and dad in town to celebrate with all of us! Our celebration was fun, but paled in comparison to Gene's celebrations he planned for his own 40th!! He and Steph decided to celebrate the occasion by jumping out of a plane and getting a tattoo! Wahoo, they are braver than I! Luckily I can say they are both safe on the ground this week! =) Happy birthday Gene, hope it was everything you wished it to be!

My 1st Mother's Day

I had a wonderful 1st Mother's Day weekend! It was kicked off on Friday when my boys sent me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers to work! It was such a surprise and totally started my weekend off right! Saturday I got some me time and went to get a mani and pedi! Sunday we started the day relaxing and spending my favorite time with my boys in bed watching cartoons! SO FUN!! Then we got ready and went to lunch with the family and some other mommy's, Stephen's mom and my brother-in-laws mom. We ate at Brios and that was delicious! After that we went back to Steph's house for cake. That afternoon I got my wonderful Mother's day gifts from my boys. I got a great new book (which I can't wait to read), a gift certificate to J Crew (I need new clothes) and some measuring cups/spoons I needed. That afternoon we jumped in the pool and hung out, just our little family. It was so wonderful! Couldn't have been better! I love my boys so much and am so grateful that I am a mom this year!!

Preston's Baptism

Last night, Wednesday May 4, 2011 Preston was baptized at the First United Methodist Church in McKinney, TX. It was a small, intimate and casual service in the chapel, exactly what we were looking for! It was nice because it was made special just for our little man. We were able to suggest hymns to sing and spend a little extra time on our little guy! The hymns requested were "In the Garden" by Nana. This was Grandma Riley's favorite hymn. Steve and I requested "Go Tell It on the Mountain" a Christmas song that is Stephen's favorite any time of year! It was a lot of fun. We all also partook in communion which was a special time for our family as well. Preston did great through the service and started to talk quite a bit once he was put in the spotlight! (I think he might get that from his mama ;). He's such a little ham! He did really well though. Once the minister took him, he quieted down and took his blessing. I think everyone there got a little teary eyed. We were so proud of our boy! It was pretty special. Preston was baptised by our Senior Pastor Dr. Tommy Brumett. Some of our witnesses included mommy, daddy, Nana, Grandma and Grandpa Mota and Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Gene. We were so blessed to have them all share in this beautiful service with us.

After the baptism we all went to dinner at Sauce to celebrate. Preston got some beautiful gifts from the family that he will cherish for a lifetime! It was truly a glorious evening!
